Delete your Fitext account

This page is for Fitext, the health and fitness app published on Google Play as com.fitext by Fitext. You can ask us to delete your account and its data right here, without signing in and without installing the app again. If you still have the app, you can also do it yourself in two taps.

Before you start

  • There is nothing to cancel first. Fitext is free, there are no subscriptions and no purchases, so nothing is left running behind you.
  • It cannot be undone. Once the deletion is confirmed, your account and your history are gone and we cannot bring them back.
  • Your username and email are released, so you can sign up again later with the same address if you want to. It would be a fresh start, not your old account.

1. Ask here, no login needed

Give us the email address on the account and we will take it from there. Anyone can type anyone's address into a public form, so a person checks every request: we write to that address to confirm the request is yours, and nothing is deleted until you answer. That is also why this page will never tell you whether an address has a Fitext account. Once it is confirmed, your account and its data are deleted within 30 days of the request.

We use it only to find and close the account and to reply to you. This page answers the same way for every address, so it cannot be used to find out who has an account.

If your account has no email address on it

A few accounts created early on have no email address saved, and a few people no longer have access to the address they used. In either case, write to yotam@fitext.com with the subject Delete my account and tell us your Fitext username. We will check that the account is yours before deleting anything, and we will answer within 30 days.

2. Or delete it from inside the app

If you are signed in on your phone, this is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately.

  1. Open Fitext and go to the Inbox tab.
  2. Tap the settings icon (the sliders) in the top bar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm. Your account closes, you are signed out, and everything the app was keeping on that phone is erased with it.

3. What is deleted, and what is kept

When it takes effect. If you delete from inside the app, your account closes there and then. If you ask on this page, a person checks the request first and your account stays open until they action it, which happens within 30 days. Either way, once it is actioned you are signed out, nobody can message you or find you in the app, and your email address is released straight away, so you could sign up again with it.

The erasure itself is normally finished within minutes of that point, and always within 30 days. One thing can take longer: if something you made is still being used by other people, such as a workout that a live challenge is being scored against, it is held until that challenge ends and then deleted, so nobody is left competing against something that has vanished. Your account stays closed and unreachable throughout.

Deleted

  • Your profile: name, email, phone number, date of birth, gender, country, bio and profile picture.
  • Your health and activity records: weights, steps, meals and the photos of them, workouts, runs and their route maps.
  • What you made: posts, recipes, workouts, reviews, and the pictures attached to them.
  • The messages you sent, and your reactions.
  • Your membership of groups, challenges and conversations.
  • Your uploaded files in our storage.
  • Everything the app keeps on your own phone, including your conversation with Lia. Deleting in the app erases it there and then; asking here erases it the next time that phone contacts us and finds the account gone.

Kept, and why

  • Reports involving your account, including any you filed about someone else, so a safety record is not erased by the person it concerns.
  • Blocks other people set on you, so that protection stays in place.
  • Copies of reported photos or video, for up to 90 days from the report.
  • An empty placeholder account with no name, email, photo or history, so other people's conversations and groups do not break. Nothing in it identifies you.
  • Backups of our database. Routine ones are kept about a week and then replaced; a few one-off archival snapshots are held until we retire them. We never restore one to bring a deleted account back.

A group or a challenge you created keeps running: ownership passes to another member, so the people still in it do not lose what they built. And the phones of people you chatted with hold their own copy of those conversations. We remove your messages from our servers and ask their app to drop them as well, but a phone that never comes back online, and anything anyone saved or screenshotted outside Fitext, is beyond our reach.
